THE EXCITING EXETER EXCURSION


For 2010 we have changed the name and character of our annual rally. We present to you the Exciting Exeter Excursion, or the Triple Ex Rally.


Saturday 26th June
Today is an informal day with a choice of runs, starting from the Moto Services car park at the Exeter Junction 30 of the M5. One of the runs will be of about 40 miles and circumnavigating the rural valleys around Exeter and the other one of about 60 miles explores the eastern area of Devon.

There is a wide choice of accommodation in the Exeter area and so we have left this to participants to decide and book. A good place to start looking for accommodation is on the Exeter City Council’s site www.exeter.gov.uk ‘places to stay’ page – have a browse through there and you will definitely find somewhere that fits your requirements and your budget.

In the evening we have arranged a delicious 2 course hot and cold buffet for a get together for all rally partakers, and their accomplices, at the Isca Centre, EX4 8NT (Isca was the Roman name for Exeter). There is plenty of parking, a full bar and all the amenities for a great pre-run evening chat and jig about.


Sunday 27th June
Meeting this morning at Exeter School, EX2 4NS, for a quick cuppa, registration, route map reading and rally plaque fixing – prior to a photo departure from the Quadrangle and off onto the roads of Devon. Did you know that Devon has more road miles than any other county? Let us show some of them to you, some with long and sweeping MG bends and fabulous views and some with grass growing in the centre needing full concentration – but all ways, high and by, are interesting whether this is your first visit or your umpteenth. The approximate distance of the run will be 100 miles and it will finish back at the Exeter School for a fabulous Devonshire cream tea.

The cost of both the runs on Saturday and Sunday, including the buffet/dance on Saturday night; the starting drinks and the cream tea on Sunday, including full route instructions, badge and rally plaque is £45 per car with 2 people on board and with all profits going to local charities. If you are just coming to us for the Sunday run don’t forget to reduce your costs and opt out of the buffet on the Booking Form.
